Job Summary 
The Technology & Innovation (T&I) team of POLYVANTIS located in Mt. Vernon, Indiana (MtV) and Sanford, Maine (SAN) is looking for a fulltime Director of Product Development to oversee innovation/business continuity operations as well as contribute to new product development. 

How You Can Be the Impact 
  • Lead and manage Technology product development efforts for mass transportation, specialty glazing, building and construction, and Electrical & Electronic segments using various polymers and processes that include ACRYLITE® sheet, LEXAN® Sheet, Film, and profiles as well as other thermoplastics.
  • Coordinate POLYVANTIS Technology Platform/New Product & Processes development/technical service request programs in AMR collaborating with Scientists and Technicians from SAN and MtV.
  • Prioritize resources and activities to meet goals and objectives, ensure Safety and Compliance, grow Focus Segments, and support Core in the North and South American regions.
  • Work with Product Marketing and Commercial teams to identify new opportunities and create a pipeline of new projects for the business.
  • Ensure global cross-functional interaction with relevant T&I, commercial, product management and manufacturing teams.
  • Ensure proper project management (milestones, cost, timeline, stakeholders).
  • Drive product innovation, business continuity, manufacturing scale-up and new manufacturing solutions. 
  • Manage interaction and collaboration with various Industry Segment teams to align on strategy and project portfolio.
  • Deliver on complex critical-to-quality product requirements with accretive and defensive products that are patented whenever feasible.
  • Drive and deliver own programs.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports on product development techniques, problem solving skills, and data rigor ensuring the team’s success delivering to the extended operations plan for Technology.  The performance of the Director, Product Development AMR is evaluated upon the success of the entire team.
What Matters to POLYVANTIS 
  • Advanced degree PhD or MS Material / Polymer science, Chemistry, Mechanical / Chemical Engineering. 
  • Minimum 10 years prior management experience in an R&D function in chemical / polymer industry preferably with compounding, formulation, and/or color technology.
  • Proven skills interfacing with customers and suppliers. 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer and business needs into actions and results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven project leadership and organizational skills.
  • Inquisitive and unrelenting in problem solving and information gathering.
  • Deep business operations knowledge and understanding of POLYVANTIS technology, products, processes, and systems is a plus (SAP, RMI, NDA, FTP, IP).
  • Problem solving skills showing evidence of strategic thinking balanced with a pragmatic, realistic approach.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 30% of the time.
